Balo is a Dongria Tribal who grows millets, peas and beans on the hills of Niyamgiri. Their ancestors worshipped the mountain holding it sacred to their survival. This tradition has followed since but now the mountain has become the stage for a bitter battle between Vedanta, a large multinational mining corporation, and the Dongria Tribe. One wants to exploit its rich mineral deposits for profit while the other wants to worship it as their god and protect the sacred mountain. And so far, God seems to be winning!
